"Alice's Restaurant" was one of my first MP3 downloads, when I finally found a player cheap enough for my budget. Although it wasn't labeled as such, the version I got was the "30th anniversary" one, in which Arlo discusses the fact that President Carter's son Chip once told him that, when they moved into the White House, they found a copy of the "Alice's Restaurant" album in the stuff left by the previous residents. He says that he got to thinking about that during all the media retrospectives when Richard Nixon passed away, and it's probably just a coincidence that the version on that album is about eighteen minutes and twenty seconds long, and there was a gap of about 18:20 on a certain rather important tape recording...

It cracked me up, anyway.

And as Susan says, it's something you could even WEAR. ...Unlike the shirt I got my husband, which shows part of the painting on the ceiling of the Cistine Chapel: God is reaching out to Adam, who is reaching for God's hand, and the Deity is saying: "Pull My Finger."
(The caption beneath says: "And on the eighth day, He created the winds...")

HA!!! I laughed for about fifteen minutes when I first saw that, and I just HAD to buy it for the Mister. And he likes it, but is afraid that if he wears it, he'll get arrested by the Neo-con Inquisition. (They play hard-ball!)
